Storage servers with large hard drives
79 servers with spinning hard drives, from $49 a month. When you need capacity more than speed, hard drives remain the cheapest way to keep terabytes online.

4 coresGood uses for a storage server
Off-site backups, media libraries for Plex or Jellyfin, log archives, Nextcloud, MinIO or other S3-compatible object stores, and seed boxes all favor capacity over random IO. A dedicated storage server gives you a fixed monthly price with no per-gigabyte or egress fees.
Some listings combine a small SSD for the operating system with large hard drives for data, which is a sensible layout for most of these jobs. For speed-sensitive workloads look at SSD servers instead.
Questions people ask
Is a dedicated storage server cheaper than cloud storage?
For data you read often, usually. Cloud object storage charges for each gigabyte stored and again for each gigabyte downloaded. A storage server has one monthly price and unmetered or high-allowance bandwidth.
Can I use RAID on a storage server?
Yes. Servers with several drives can run RAID 1, 5, 6 or 10 in software, or ZFS. Pick a server with enough drives for the level you need.
